Design on MacBook M2 14 inch
The design on the MPHE3 in particular and the 14-inch MacBook Pro 2023 models in general remains the same, with no changes. This is also understandable when Apple has completely changed the design language on their MacBook recently.
The 14-inch MacBook M2 Pro has a more square design than the previous familiar MacBook design. Although the screen is larger, the overall size of the device is not too large, specifically 1.55 cm x 31.26 cm x 22.12 cm (H x W x D) and weight of only 1.6kg. Code MPHE3 is the gray color option – the most commonly purchased color option.
Apple still uses monolithic aluminum on its high-end products, along with the familiar bitten apple logo that is sharp CNC cut. Opening the screen, we will have the rabbit ear design maintained (from the previous 14-inch MacBook version) and the word MacBook Pro is also removed from the bottom of the screen. The speaker strip is located on the C side along the black keyboard.
Actual performance
If the actual performance on Apple M1 Pro has surprised you, now the upgraded version is Apple M2 Pro with 10 CPU cores and 16 GPU cores (double the number of GPU cores and 2 more CPU cores compared to M1 Pro) will deliver outstanding impressive performance. MacBook Pro 2023 will offer 20% faster CPU speed and 30% faster GPU for M1 Pro.
MPHH3 possesses basic RAM of up to 16GB, helping to handle tasks faster and more powerfully, minimizing the situation of swapping RAM to SSD – this gradually reduces the lifespan of the SSD. Regarding SSD, the device is equipped with 512GB SSD – a capacity large enough to install a variety of software, store documents and project files. SSD read and write speed reaches 7.4GB/s and bandwidth speed reaches 200GB/s. In terms of performance, M2 Pro has been raised to a new level by Apple, now the 14-inch MacBook Pro 2023 MPHE3 completely solves basic tasks smoothly, even for tasks that require higher performance such as design. Professional, movie editing, Render Video 8K and even being able to output to two additional Apple Display XDR 6K screens is not a problem with current performance.
Many Youtubers have also evaluated the actual performance, with results such as:
- Exporting 4K video with Davinci Resolve only takes about 4 minutes and 20 seconds (the software is native on the Apple Silicon chip)
- Blender 3D’s processing ability is still 30-40% slower than Windows laptop models in the same user segment.
- Excel macro loop MacBook Pro 2023 M2 512GB takes about 40 seconds to process
Screen with 120Hz refresh rate
The weakness that many users complain about is that the scan frequency on the MacBook is too low. Apple has listened and upgraded this element from the MacBook Pro 2021 version.
Following that upgrade, Apple kept the 120Hz refresh rate on the 14-inch MacBook 2023 model. In addition, Apple also integrates ProMotion technology to help Macs automatically adjust the appropriate scanning frequency for each app and each task, helping to ensure the best experience and battery life.
With a resolution of 3024 x 1964 along with 1 billion colors and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, it will provide the best display quality, deeper blacks and more vibrant colors along with the Wide Color range. P3.
In the 2021 version, the first time “Rabbit Ears” appeared brought many opinions, but after nearly 2 years of use, users are no longer too interested in it because during use, especially in Dark Mode, “Rabbit ears” will disappear. Behind that “Rabbit Ear” is still a 1080p Camera for good quality.
You can forget about Hubs
MacBook users in previous years always had to spend an extra amount (quite a lot) for a port expansion hub. However, with the MacBook Pro 14 2023 you will no longer need them. Apple equips more connection ports, especially important connection ports.
MacBook 14-inch 2023 MPHE3 has:
- 03 Type-C ports support ThunderBolt 4
- 01 HDMI
- 2.0 port SDXC
- slot Jack 3.5mm
- MagSafe 3 charger supports fast charging
Keyboard experience is smooth
Apple removed the TouchBar from the 2021 version and brought back the function key row, now the keyboard on the MacBook Pro 14 M2 Pro is simple and sophisticated. Keyboard with familiar layout, easy to get used to after only 1-2 hours of use and good key travel for a smooth experience.

In addition, the key frame will now also be made All-Black, without the gray border as before, making the overall key more seamless. The bottom is also equipped with a backlight. TouchID will still be equipped.
Battery Life on Macbook Pro 14 inch 2023
If compared to Windows Workstation laptop models in the same segment, MacBook Pro MPHE3 has very impressive battery life – 12 hours for basic tasks on web browsers and 8 hours for heavy tasks.
This duration is thanks to the combination of hardware and software that macOS Ventura provides.
The cooling system is optimized
Thanks to the power from the Apple M2 Pro chip, the cooling system on the MacBook Pro 14 M2 is almost inactive during basic tasks. For heavier tasks like rendering, editing, etc., the cooling system starts operating at low fan speed.
Tests on this new MacBook also showed amazing results, with almost no fan noise even when editing a 3D design file.
